Two Wildflowers and a Box of Wine- Ashland Craft

I discovered Ashland Craft on good old Youtube. I had the “Country's New Crop” playlist on and the song, “Two Wild Flowers and a Box of Wine” started playing. I liked the tune of it from the start but it wasn’t until I listened a second time that I appreciated the song and what it was about.

The beginning of the song talks about the singer and her man running the rat race, working their tails off, not making any progress. Most of us can relate to waking up everyday and grinding with, what sometimes feels like, no progress or break at all.

Craft then sings:

Need a little slow down,

To get this uptight unwound

Then she bursts into the chorus:

Oh, you bring the blanket and the dixie cups

I'll be waiting outside

You drive and I’ll draw hearts on the window

‘Til we find what money can’t buy

I'll be yours and you can be all mine

Just two wildflowers and a box of wine

Ashland’s lyrics are full of imagery that makes me long to be living the song out word for word. Her voice sounds incredible belting out these lyrics, and she reminds me of the early 2000’s women country singers who would start slow into a song and then let their voice rip into the chorus.

There’s a life lesson in this song that I can get behind. Every now and then you have to slow down and do what money can’t buy. Enjoy time with your other half away from all the distractions and day-to-day rut we get in sometimes. It’s okay to slow down and spend time with the people you love; money will always be there to be made.

Ashland has some other great songs as well and I’m sure her best years in the country music world are ahead of her. Check out her website https://ashlandcraft.com/

I look forward to seeing her career progress! When she makes it to our neck of the woods, we will be sure to go see her!

Thanks for reading and let me know in the comments below: what’s your favorite way to get a little slowdown?
