Typically we like to talk about new artists on this blog. I like to stay on top of the new songs coming out, and I enjoy interacting with the new country artists. That being said - my true love for country music came from singers who were in their later years before I was even born.
So this Friday morning, I’m writing about a song by one of my favorites: George Jones.
At an early age I started to really like George Jones, so my mom bought me his Greatest Hits album for my birthday when I was around 7 or 8. I used to listen to it before I’d go to bed every night. My dad was also a big fan, so we would often bring the CD with us in the car when we were going somewhere.
On Friday mornings, I still listen to George Jones’ Finally Friday. It always pumps me up for the day and gets me in the mood for the weekend.
In the chorus, Jones sings It’s finally Friday; I’m free again. I got my motor running for a wild weekend. It’s finally Friday, I’m outta control. Forget the working blues, and let good times roll.
I think the song is so popular because everyone can relate to the message here: Friday = Good. What is your Friday jam? Give the oll opossum a listen sometime and let me know what you think.
Thanks for reading,
Jack Wilkinson
